The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has awarded the top 20 securities brokers and traders based on their revenue in the 2021-22 financial year.
The winners were selected in two categories: the dealer category and the broker category.
The award-winning companies in the “dealer category” are Galaxy capital, LankaBangla Securities, Prudential Capital, Sohel Securities, Islami Bank Securities, Eastern Shares & Securities, EBL Securities, NBL Securities, RAK Securities and Far East Shares and Securities.
The companies that have been awarded in the “broker category” are LankaBangla Securities, Be Rich, Kabir Securities, Multi Securities and Services, Meenhar Securities, Eastern Shares & Securities, ICB Trading Company, Island Securities, EBL Securities and Mona Financial Consultancy & Securities . .
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman, Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam attended the awards ceremony as the chief guest on Thursday.
In his speech, Professor Shibli said that the capital market’s contribution to GDP would be enhanced by market diversification.
Only the development of the stock market will not ensure the development of the capital market, he said, adding that trading in treasury bills would resume soon.
He also said that within a year or two, investors will be able to trade around the clock from any corner of the world.
CSE Chairman Asif Ibrahim said the port city stock exchange gave the awards to encourage stockbrokers to play an active role in market development.
CSE Director Major (Retired) Emdadul Islam and Director General (Current Officer) Md Ghulam Faruque also spoke during the programme.
