How To Save Video In Sony Vegas Pro 13

When working with the Sony Vegas Pro 13 video editor, a number of users may encounter difficulties. The “Save As” option, familiar to many, writes a user project to disk. We need a ready-to-use video file that can be posted on YouTube, on social networks and so on. After a long work in the Sony Vegas Pro 13 program, I learned to save a video, and today I will describe the sequence of actions to solve this problem.

Before you complete the sequence of steps to download your video clip, I recommend that you finalize your project. To do this, you must:

  1. Go to “File” – “Properties” (or just press “Alt” + “Enter”).

To configure your video, select "File" – "Properties"

  • In the "Video" tab, select the desired template for your video (I recommend any HD-quality that is convenient for you). Also, instead of the “Top field first” option, select “None (progressive deployment”), set the “Frame rate” to “30,000”, set the “Pixel format” to “32-bit floating point”, and the value of the “Render with full extension ”indicate“ Best. ”
  • Go to the “Audio” tab, in which we set the parameter “Sampling Frequency” to “192 000”. Click on “Apply” below, and then on “Save”.
  • After setting the specified parameters (or other parameters you need), I recommend saving your project to disk, in order to avoid accidental (unpredictable) data loss (click on "File" – "Save As").
  • Select “Save As” to save the file to disk.

When uploading your video, it’s worth deciding whether you will save the entire video or only its segment. There are three ways to do this:

Then select “File” at the top – “Render as”. In the window that opens, decide on the directory for saving our video (Folder), and enter a name for our file (Name). Below is a list of templates in which we can save our file. Popular and convenient is “MainConcept AVC / AAC (mp4, avc)”, click on the arrow to the right of it and select “Internet HD 1080p” (or a more moderate alternative to “Internet HD 720p”).

If you wish, you can edit this template by selecting it and then clicking on the “Customize template” button below (customize the template). In particular, in the opened customization menu on the Video tab, you can choose either a constant bitrate (for example, a value of 14,000,000 bps) or a variable (average value of 10,000,000, maximum – 16,000,000). In the option “Encoding mode” you can speed up the encoding process using the OpenCL or CUDA technologies (to check their availability on your PC, go to the “System” tab and click on the “Check GPU” button).

By switching to the "Audio" tab, you can change the bitrate from 192,000 to a higher value. After that, close the template customization window.

If you want to render not the entire video, but the selected segment, then check the "Render loop region only" option (otherwise uncheck it). Then click on the "Render" button below and wait for the rendering procedure to finish. Depending on the specifics of your file and the selected compression template, this may take some time. After that, the received file will be placed in the directory you selected.
