The Tesla Model 3 is the second battery-powered electric car to receive an award – the first was Audi E-Tron, which received this award in August. Like the E-Tron, Model 3 was rated “good” in all categories, which is the best indicator in IIHS tests. Experts said that the car, despite a decent level of safety, is still not without drawbacks: for example, there is a “moderate risk of injury to the left lower leg” of a Tesla Model 3 driver in frontal accidents. But according to the testers, this type of testing is in principle one of the most difficult, so it is difficult to blame Tesla for design negligence.
Recall that previously Model S was not able to achieve the highest ratings of IIHS, and Model X, in principle, was never tested by a non-profit group.
